Staying in control
Leverage and the risk of loss
This page is an automated calculator. It shows metal value worked out from the world price, not a shop quote, and nothing here is a recommendation to trade. Leveraged products such as contracts for difference let you control a position far larger than the money you put down. That cuts both ways. A small move against you can wipe out your deposit, and because you are exposed to the full size of the position, losses can run past what you expected and past what you paid in. You may owe more than you started with.

Keeping control of your account
- Trade only with money you can afford to lose entirely, never with rent, savings set aside for bills, or borrowed funds.
- Set limits before you open a position: a maximum loss per trade, a daily cap, and a point where you stop for the day.
- Use the stop-loss and position-size tools your provider offers, and check how they behave in fast markets.
- Take a break after a loss instead of trying to win it back straight away.
- Treat any figure on this page as raw metal value, not a forecast, and expect no profit from it.
Where to get help
If trading is damaging your finances or your peace of mind, stop and reach out. National consumer advice services, free debt charities and financial-help lines in your country can explain your options, and a financial counsellor can help you plan a way out. Regulators also publish warnings and complaint routes. No one can promise you a result, so protect yourself first.
