Four platforms, and the one line that separates them

Exness runs four ways to reach the market — Exness Terminal, Exness Trade, MT4 and MT5 — and for a South African trader watching the gold price today, the platform choice changes less than the account choice does. Spreads, commissions and margin thresholds are set by the account type, not by the screen you watch them on. What the platform decides is how orders are filled and what you can see while they are open.

Two pages that pick up where this one stops: Exness · Broker overview and Exness · Account types.

Where the order actually goes

Order execution splits by account, not by platform. Standard, Zero and Raw Spread fill at market. Pro fills instantly, with crypto handled at market. That difference matters most when the gold price is moving fast: a market fill takes the next available price, an instant fill takes the price you asked for or nothing. Neither is a guarantee — both are descriptions of how the order is routed, and the price you get still depends on what the book looks like at that moment.

What the terminal puts in front of you

The platforms carry an economic calendar, Trading Central and FXStreet inside the terminal. For someone trading gold, the calendar is the practical one: the sharpest minute in the published tick history for gold is 12:00 UTC, at 60.91 USD, which is 6 091 USD per lot. The calmest is 20:00 UTC at 3.29 USD. Those are records of what happened, not a schedule — but they tell you the hours around the US data window are where a position gets tested, and the platform is where you see the release before it lands.

Costs sit in the account, not the app

The spread and commission you pay are the same whichever platform you open. On Standard, XAU/USD was quoted at 0.26 USD, which is 26 USD per lot, with no commission. Zero charges from 0.05 USD per lot per side and Raw Spread up to 3.50 USD per lot per side, against spreads from 0 pips. Pro sits at spreads from 0.1 pips with no commission. The platform does not add a layer to any of it.

The tools that don't cost anything extra

A free VPS is available, and negative balance protection is in place. Tick history is public for all instruments, which is where the gold volatility figures above come from — worth reading before you size a position rather than after. There are no bonuses and no contests; a loyalty program exists instead. Support runs 24/7 in English, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese and Swahili, and 24/5 across 16 languages.

What the platform does not settle for you

Two things follow a position regardless of which screen it was opened on. The first is the overnight lot cap: between 21:00 and 06:59 GMT+0 the maximum is 60 lots, against 200 lots from 07:00 to 20:59 GMT+0. The second is the margin call, which arrives at 60% on Standard and 30% on Pro, Zero and Raw Spread, with stop out at 0%. A platform will show you the margin level; it will not change the threshold. Anyone holding a gold position through the rollover meets both rules on whichever terminal they use.

Questions traders ask about platforms

Does MT5 give me better gold spreads than Exness Terminal?

No. Spreads and commissions are set by the account type, and Standard, Pro, Zero and Raw Spread carry the same published conditions whichever platform you use. The platform changes how orders are filled and what analysis you can see, not what the trade costs.

Can I run a Standard account on MT4 and a Zero account on MT5 at the same time?

The published conditions do not restrict account types to particular platforms, and open positions are unlimited. Each account carries its own spread, commission and margin thresholds, so the two would behave differently in a fast gold market even on the same screen.

Why does Pro fill instantly while the others fill at market?

That is simply how the published conditions list them: market for Standard, Zero and Raw Spread, instant for Pro, with crypto at market on Pro. An instant fill is a different routing rule, not a promise about the price you receive.

Is the free VPS tied to a particular account type?

The free VPS is listed as available without an account-type condition attached in the published material. What it hosts is your platform, so the account rules — margin call, stop out, lot cap — stay the same as they would on your own machine.

Do the analysis tools change what I pay per lot?

No. The economic calendar, Trading Central and FXStreet sit inside the terminal as information. The cost of a gold position is the spread plus any commission on your account type, and the tick history is where the volatility behind that cost is documented.
